Domestic Sedimentation

A more-than-human collaboration between me and my dryer, during a period of intense domestic labour (ie. around the birth of my second child). Just like the sedimentation of earth layers, the material evolved in a long-term cyclical process, build up through layers of domestic material traces. The images created through layering of fibers resemble mountainous landscapes and reminded me everyday of my boundedness to the house. Embracing this time of life and the accompanying labour and sensitivities it fosters, I used preservation material usually used to exhibit insects (such as butterflies) to uplift this imagery as landmarks and memorabilia within seemingly monotonous, yet at closer look extremely complex, domestic landscapes.
